Girls Aloud

Girls Aloud has been together for the last five years, since they won the reality show "Popstars - The Rivals" back in 2002. The band is made up of five girls: Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and Cheryl Cole.

The band formed on the 30th of November in 2002 after they won the "Popstars" Rival challenge. The concept of the show was to produce a boy and girl band to "rival" for Christmas's number one single of 2002. The judges of the show included Pete Waterman, Louis Walsh and Geri Halliwell, who was one of the lead singers from the 90s girl band, Spice Girls. Two contestants where disqualified during the production of "Popstars": Hazel Kaneswaren, due to her age and Nicole Ward who refused to sign the contract. Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts were brought in to replace them.

They are in the Guinness Book of Records for the most consecutive Top 10 Singles. They have broken a few other records as well, including the shortest time from band formation to the first number one hit single.

Their male rivals from the reality show, One True Voice, broke up after just over a year of being together, whereas Girls Aloud have released several albums. In total they have had 17 consecutive top singles in the top 10, with three number ones and 4 platinum albums.

Girls Aloud released their first album, Underground in May 2003. They released What Will the Neighbours Say the following year and Chemistry in 2005. Last year they released The Sound of Girls Aloud, and in November this year they released their latest Album, Tangled Up.

They have toured every year since the formation of the band. In 2008 they plan to tour the UK from May onwards. Tangled Up is the girls' fourth studio album since the band got together. The title Tangled Up, was inspired from the song Close to Love, which is the second song featured on the album. The first single from the album, Sexy! No No No... was released in September 2007. It was number 16 on the consecutive top ten hit in the UK. Currently the peak position of the album on the UK Albums Chart is number 4.
